Why Alaska's vanishing permafrost worries researchers

We can try to slow climate change by reducing our use of fossil fuels. But permafrost - which is thawing right now - could contribute up to 1.7 degrees Fahrenheit to global warming during the upcoming centuries, regardless of what we do. Alaska's permafrost is incredibly vulnerable, and could largely disappear by the middle of the century. Related:
