A lacy skin fills this Kenyan apartment building with sunlight and fresh air

A lace-like structural skin filters natural light into the interior of this apartment building in Mombasa, Kenya. Urko Sánchez Architects wrapped the building in two layers–one that acts as the first barrier against excessive heat and sunlight, and another, inner one, comprised of handcrafted wood-lattice shutters.
