NASA unveils plan to make oxygen on Mars

On the trek to Mars, there won't be a lot of room in spacecraft to tote canisters of oxygen so future colonists can breathe, at least initially. So NASA's working around that issue with an attempt to create oxygen from the red planet's thin atmosphere. Their 2020 Rover will be equipped with the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE) device, which will try and make oxygen via electrolysis.
