New study finds food waste will increase to 66 tons per second if left unchecked

Immediate action is being called for as a new analysis reveals an alarming rise in food waste projected by 2030. The study was conducted by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) who warns that food loss will increase over 30% in the next decade if changes aren't made to the way we produce and handle food consumption. A total 2.1 billion tonnes of food are projected to be thrown away or lost (in the case of perishables); this amount equates to a colossal 66 tonnes, or 132,000 pounds per second. Related:...
