Research suggests humans emerged 2.8M years ago amid major climate change event

Mystery still shrouds much of the story of our origins, but new Arizona State University research sheds new light on where we first emerged, and how long ago. Around 2.8 million years ago our genus, Homo, emerged in a valley in Ethiopia. It was a time of change on that older Earth - global cooling may have helped set the stage for humans to arise.
