China claims major energy breakthrough with 'flammable ice'

Flammable ice - or a frozen mix of natural gas and water also called methane hydrates - could revolutionize energy in the future, and China now says they've made a major breakthrough in mining the substance. They say they've extracted gas from reserves in the South China Sea. But is extracting gas from flammable ice such a good idea?
