Tired of the red tape, indigenous leaders are creating their own climate fund

Local communities wrestling with the impacts of climate change on food security have also struggled to get funds to deal with those impacts. The United Nations created the Green Climate Fund in 2010 - but it can be very difficult for countries and communities to be accredited and access money, according to the Thomson Reuters Foundation. So some indigenous leaders in Mexico and Central America are taking things into their own hands. Related:
