Tadao Ando embeds open-air prayer hall around massive 15-year-old Buddha statue

Japanese architect Tadao Ando's work usually leaves people stunned, but his latest work is a piece of art. His latest work, the Hill of Buddha in the Japanese town of Sapporo is a landscape architecture project that consists of building a prayer hall around a 15 year old stone sculpture of Buddha. The aim of this project was to build a prayer hall that would enhance the attractiveness of a stone Buddha sculpted 15 years ago.
