Lockheed to turn shuttle-era module into a prototypical space habitat for NASA

Deep space missions in the future will take us farther and farther away from Earth, and last year NASA chose six United States companies to develop deep space habitat prototypes, demonstrating where astronauts might live and work in space. Aerospace company Lockheed Martin recently won a Phase II contract for the Next Space Technologies for Exploration Partnerships (NextSTEP) study from NASA to develop a cislunar habitat, and they're repurposing old materials to do so.
