Endangered Malayan tigers are threatened by the demand for durian

According to environmental groups, the habitat of the Malayan tiger — one of the world’s most endangered tigers — is being threatened. Because of the growing demand from China for durian, a pungent fruit, the forests of Malaysia are being cleared, and it could have a devastating impact on the Malayan tigers’ survival. Forests in the Malaysian region of Raub, the home of the Malayan tiger, have become a popular destination for Chinese and Singapore tourists because of “durian tours.”...
