Stanford sodium-based battery could be more cost-effective than lithium

The quest for the best battery is of vital importance as the world transitions to renewable energy. A Stanford University-led team turned to salt to design a sodium-based battery that can hold the same amount of power as a lithium-ion one for a cheaper price. While it's not the world's first sodium ion battery, the Stanford design costs under 80 percent of a lithium-ion battery that can store the same amount of energy. Related:
