Jamaica proposes ban to outlaw plastic bags, Styrofoam and plastic straws

In January, Jamaica initiated a plastic ban to curb its dependency on single-use plastics and prevent them from ending up in the island's landfills. The country uses more plastic bags per capita than just about anywhere on the planet, averaging around 500 bags a year per resident. The new ban will outlaw the use of plastic bags, Styrofoam and plastic straws. The law also includes the manufacturing and distribution of such products.
