Giant tortoise believed extinct for 100 years is rediscovered

A member of a giant tortoise species once thought extinct was just spotted on a remote island in the Galapagos. Scientists discovered the female adult tortoise, commonly referred to as a Fernandina giant tortoise, off the island of Fernandina, and believe she is well over 100 years old. The group removed the tortoise from the island and brought her to a customized breeding facility on Santa Cruz Island.
