Hunters issued permits to import lion trophies to United States

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has revealed that the U.S. government has issued over three dozen permits allowing trophy parts hunted from lions to be brought back into the United States from Africa. The hunters' allowance of trophy elephant tusks was already set back in March 2018. The 38 permits issued to 33 lion hunters between 2016-2018 sanction the import of these trophy hunts undertaken in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, Namibia and South Africa on a case by case basis.
