Helsinki unveils plan to reach carbon neutrality by 2035

Finland's capital city has unveiled an action plan to reach carbon neutrality, accelerating the goal by 15 years. In 2017, Helsinki resolved to switch their target year from 2050 to 2035. In the meantime, they plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions (from 1990 levels) 60 percent by 2030. The plan, called Carbon Neutral Helsinki 2035, outlines 143 specific actions that will result in reduced energy consumption and a greater share of renewable energy sources.
