New Japanese turbines harvest wave energy and protect coastlines from erosion

Surf's up! Researchers from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan are working on a project with the goal of creating turbines that both harvest the renewable energy of tidal movement while simultaneously protecting coastlines from erosion. To accomplish this, turbines would be placed atop tetrapods, star-shaped concrete structures anchored to the sea floor with mooring cables,
