Here's some climate hope: global CO2 emissions stayed static last year

The fall of coal and rise of renewable energy could be having an impact on the world's carbon dioxide emissions. The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency published data this week showing global emissions were stationary in 2016. Economist Nicholas Stern said, "These results are a welcome indication that we are nearing the peak in global annual emissions of greenhouse gases."
