The return of civilian supersonic passenger travel just became a big step closer to reality with NASA's announcement that the space agency has completed the preliminary design review (PDR) of its Quiet Supersonic Transport or QueSST aircraft design. The milestone clears the way for design and construction of the Low Boom Flight Demonstration (LBFD) experimental airplane, otherwise known as an X-plane.
