California's last nuclear power plant to be retired by 2025

By 2030, California hopes to gain 50 percent of its energy from renewable sources. A proposal signed today brings large utility business Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) closer to that goal. Together with the National Resources Defense Council, labor unions, and environmental groups like Friends of the Earth, PG&E signed a proposal to close California's last nuclear power plant, Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, by 2025 and replace that power with renewables.
