Volkswagen fined 1 billion euros over diesel emissions cheating

German authorities slapped Volkswagen with a one billion Euro fine — that's around $1.16 billion — for diesel emissions cheating. The fine follows a 2017 plea agreement in the United States; the car company then agreed to pay $4.3 billion over the emissions scandal. Volkswagen said in a statement they will accept the new fine and "by doing so, admits its responsibility." Related: Volkswagen to pay $4.3 billion to US following emissions scandal
