No one knows why these bees build incredible spiraling hives

Caution: after what you are about to see, you may never be satisfied with your run-of-the-mill honeycomb again. That's because these design-savvy bees weren't content to live in generic boxes like most bees, so they made their hives look like something that could have come out of the mind of Zaha Hadid herself. Known as sugarbag bees (Tetragonula carbonaria), the insects live in Australia and create an unusual single-layer spiraling hive that is completely unlike the traditional flat beehive....
