California could ban new fossil fuel cars from 2040 on under a bill introduced this week by Assemblyman Phil Ting, a Democrat of San Francisco If the bill, called Clean Cars 2040, was passed, all new cars sold in the state would have to be zero emissions vehicles. Ting said in a statement, "We're at an inflection point: we've got to address the harmful emissions that cause climate change."
