New North African solar farms could send 4.5 gigawatts of energy to Europe

The age-old dream of transforming North Africa (Mena) and the Middle East into a giant solar farm to power Europe may finally become a reality. In June of this year, Tunisia-based TuNur filed a request to export 4.5 gigawatts (GW) of solar energy to Europe. That’s enough to power 5 million homes or 7 million electric cars!
