MIT researchers explore ancient firebrick technology to store energy

Firebricks have been around for at least 3,000 years. But MIT researchers think this ancient technology could help us transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. They worked out a scheme where excess electricity, such as that produced when the wind is blowing or sun is shining, could be converted into heat and stored in the firebricks for later use.
