Mass-produced children’s toys are transformed into an incredible kinetic art sculpture

Too many children’s toys get chucked in the bin once they’ve been outgrown, but that’s fortunately not the fate of these colorful Hoberman spheres. Artist Nils Volker upcycled over a hundred of those spherical toys into Bits and Pieces, a hanging art installation equipped with tiny motors and programmed to expand and contract in waves. The mesmerizing artwork is currently on show at Berlin’s NOME Gallery, but you can also see Bits and Pieces in action by following the link below.
