Adélie penguin populations have been declining in Antarctica — at least, that's what scientists thought. An international team recently discovered a supercolony of over 1.5 million penguins on the Danger Islands. While 100 miles away on the West Antarctic Peninsula, there is evidence penguins are indeed in decline, this supercolony, in an area with little human activity, is thriving.
