Hippos could be threatened with extinction due to demand for their teeth

Poachers are turning to a surprising animal to satisfy black market-demand for ivory: hippos. Hippopotamus teeth offer an alternative as elephant populations plummet, and many in many countries they're well-protected. But now hippos are under the threat of extinction - with one estimate suggesting the species could vanish within 100 years. Related:
