Africa's first waste-to-energy plant to supply 30% of Addis Ababa's household electricity needs

Addis Ababa, home to over three million people in Ethiopia, has one landfill: the Koshe dump site. It's about as large as 36 football pitches, according to the United Nations Environment Program. A waste-to-energy plant, Africa's first, could transform the site, burning around 1,400 tons of trash every day.
