A lot of energy or chemicals are required to remove pollutants at low levels in water - but those toxins can still be harmful in minimal amounts. So scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany have come up with a way to get around the barriers to pull out contaminants like chemical wastes, pharmaceuticals, or pesticides.
