East New York-based companies Smash Industries and Legion Lighting are inviting New Yorkers to take a ride on the bright side this weekend with their graffiti-tagged, LED-lit miniature subway cars. On display through Sunday at BKLYN Designs as part of NYCxDESIGN week, the collection of colorful artworks aren’t just Big Apple-themed eye candy. Smashed Industries says that each piece provides work for a local artisan through their “Trains 4 Gains” program, which is “on track” to helping create a brighter future for the community.
