Tesla's no longer the only big company in the energy storage game. Back in April Mercedes-Benz started to deliver home energy storage units in Germany, and now electrification giants Siemens and AES are creating a new energy storage technology company, Fluence. The venture could reach consumers in more than 160 countries. Related:

New stacked solar cell absorbs energy from almost the entire solar spectrum
Most traditional solar cells aren't able to convert long-wavelength photons into electricity. A team of researchers led by Matthew Lumb at The George Washington University is hoping to change that, and capture more power. They've designed a solar cell that can harvest just about all of the energy in the solar spectrum - and has an implied cell efficiency of 44.5 percent.

Saturn's biggest moon has enough energy for a US-sized space colony
Feeling like you've had enough of this planet? Saturn's biggest moon, Titan, is an attractive option for a space colony, according to new research. Amanda Hendrix of the Planetary Science Institute and Yuk Yung of the California Institute of Technology say the moon has enough energy to power a settlement the size of the United States. Related:

A tremendous translucent 'forest' pops up in a French courtyard
This amazing installation made from translucent glass fiber reinforced polyester sheets (onduclair PLR) transforms the courtyard of Fondation Martell in Cognac, France, into a huge translucent forest. Spanish architecture firm SelgasCano designed the structure, named Pavillon Martell, as a temporary, multipurpose space that will house diverse programs organized by the Foundation. The pavilion covers a 25,000-square-foot space situated behind the Foundation. Its main material, developed by French...

Australian company lands $12M to print batteries on printed solar panels
Because solar energy benefits the environment and reduces electricity costs, many consumers are already keen to invest in the technology. The issue is, the cost of installing solar panels remains high — even if prices for the technology are plummeting in the Middle East. This issue may no longer persist in the future, as the Australian company Printed Energy is on a mission to print out ultra-thin, flexible screen-printed batteries, which can then be applied on top of super-thin flexible screen-printed...
